Topic: True Christian Worship Texts: Deu 12: 10-14; John 4:19-23 Message: - God wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth; - Everybody worships something ( God; other gods; man; money, or themselves). - As Christians our duty is to worship God at all times, not only on Sundays; - When we gather to worship, the emphasis is on the 'individual'. God knows the heart that is connected with Him in worship, we should strive to avoid distractions; - Not everyone we see in church that's actually worshipping God (again, be ware of distractions). - The accepted Christian worship is from inside out (Matt 15:8) - Worship is personal, even though it is sometimes offered collectively (like in church) What does it mean to worship God in the spirit? - To worship in the spirit, you just be born again; because God is not a man, He is a Spirit and being born again means being. born again means being born of Gods spirit (John 4:24; John 3:4-7) - We worship God with the help of the Holy Ghost, we cannot do it by ourselves, the Holy Spirit helps our spirit to worship God in the acceptable manner (1 Cor 2:11) - Do it from a pure heart with the help of the Holy Spirit who makes our hearts pure (Ps 24:3-5; Ex 3:4-5) - In worship, God desires a submissive spirit (Ps 51:16) What does it mean to worship in truth? - The Christian worship is a response to the truth. Therefore, to worship God, we must understand who He is, what He has done and what He can do. For instance, Abraham was able to worship God because he knew the truth (God) (Gen 22:1-5). Truth is the totality of God which is embodied in His word ( John 1:1; John 17:17 - Worship is the expression of a heart of faith through praise to a God that you understand (or know) (John 4:22) - You can only worship God to the depth of truth that you know. The depth of truth you know is also proportional to the extent of your worship to God ( Ex 6:1-3) Stay blessed
